I will be visiting New York from England and wondered whether an English provisional driving license will be accepted for buying alcohol over there as I dont want to carry my passport around with me!

Since I am a former bartender in NYC, my suggestion is for you to bring your passport. Some bars dont mind but others will not accept a European drivers license.

If you%26#39;re concerned about carrying around your passport and losing it, make a copy of your passport and keep it in your luggage.
