Hi all. I%26#39;m visiting NYC from 10/11-10/16 and was curious if the leaves would be starting to change by then in Central Park. I%26#39;m going with my mom and she wants to see the whole Autumn-in-New-York thing since we don%26#39;t see much orange and yellow down here in So Cal. Thanks in advance.
When do the leaves change?
It really depends on the weather. You%26#39;ll probably see at least some color by then, though the peak might happen a bit later.
When do the leaves change?
I think you%26#39;ll get more of the leaves changing in NYC in early November. If you really want to see it I would rent a car one day and drive upstate a bit. The more north you go the more leaves you%26#39;ll see changing colors at that time.
The time period is usually peak time for upstate NY. YOu might consider taking a day trip while you%26#39;re here. Here/%26#39;s a foliage cruise

There used to be one to Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate, but I don%26#39;t se that anymore. YOu can get there by train I think and it%26#39;s beautiful.
Admiring the foliage change colors is often called ';leaf peeping';. Use that term and search Google.
Here are some wesbties especially for this purpose:

We are in NH and have another two weeks at least until peak foliage hits us. Its late this year for us.
When you are coming the leaves in Central Park, based on prior years, will be beginning to change but the peak is usually not to the end of October. If you go 50 to 100 mile north when you visit it will be great.
We will be arriving Thursday morning (yippee!). Can anyone give me a Central Park leaf update? I%26#39;ll bet it%26#39;s gorgeous, isn%26#39;t it?? Can%26#39;t wait!!
*bump*
Just fyi, these posts were accurate. The leaves were gorgeous last week in the Poconos and Catskills and Adirondacks. Thanks.
Judy, noticed your bump. Higher elevations change before lower; north generally before south...but there are some southern elevations that are higher than some northern. And, it can also depend on the type of tree. Atop the Blue Ridge Mts. past weekend the color was not excellent, but leaves were glowing here and there in the mts. on the way up and down, according to their type and how much water they got during drought and if they were in a cool channel of air. Somebody will answer you specifically soon I%26#39;m sure...wait till they get off work in NY:)
