';Oh, somewhere in this favored land
(New York of course, where George Steinbrenner thinks he can buy a World Series with overpriced and overhyped veteran All Stars rather than foster and groom a young team with spirit)
the sun is shining bright.
(Tigers Tigers burning bright. Did you see Kenny Rogers and the rest of the Tigers engaging with their fans after their victory...not something you%26#39;d see in New York, eh, where it would be business as usual...)
The band is playing somewhere,
(And it%26#39;s a funeral dirge for Joe Torre)
and somewhere hearts are light.
(Last night...Boston, Detroit...)
And, somewhere men are laughing, and little children shout,
(Boston...Detroit...)
but there is no joy in Bronxville -- mighty A-Rod has struck out.';
(Yeah he%26#39;ll be the goat after being bumped down to 8th in the order and going 1-14, and having yet another lackluster season. But George ruined him, and somewhere a team can really use him, if only he%26#39;d see it. Before they shut on poor Joe and Alex, they may as well toss out Mussina, Randy Johnson, Sheffield and Bernie too, even though Bernie did nothing wrong. Welcome back Lou.)
Yankees At The Bat
Well, as a metro Detroiter....all I can say is, this was a long time coming! The city is overjoyed and yesterday was such an emotional and exciting day for everyone! GO Tigers!
Yankees At The Bat
Hilarious! I%26#39;m not a Yankees fan, but I do feel for Joe.
Let%26#39;s Go Mets!
The press conferences after a Yankee elimination are one of the true joys in life :)
Back to the Amazin%26#39;s. I think yesterday%26#39;s rains will benefit the Cards pitching staff (extra days rest), but it will also give Cliff Floyd%26#39;s Achilles another day to heal (he was in yesterday%26#39;s scheduled lineup!).
I think this years Mets have best team chemistry since the %26#39;79 Pirate Family?
Looking forward to Glavine pitching a gem today!
Looks like Joe Torre is staying put...and ARod too for now... WFAN and Mike Francessa called that one wrong. (They actually reported it was a done deal that Joe was out and Lou Piniella was in.)
I am hoping for a Mets v. Tigers world series. I am cheering for Willie Randolph and the Mets which is pretty generous considering I am a Red Sox fan and we are known never to forget...
But there is something fun about his year%26#39;s Mets and quite bizare about the Tigers...by the way they ended their season being so bad and then to pull off these upsets. Gotta love them a bit.
Also, I truly hope Jose Feliciano is brought in to sing the National Anthem for the Mets, that will make everything perfect.
I interviewed him a while ago and he went through such horrible backlash the first time he sang the NA (for the Tigers, so it would be even more appropriate for him to sing it again in a world series between the tow teams.)
Jose is a real NY fan, for both the Yanks and Mets, but before the playoffs started he said he will root for the Mets because they are the underdog.
For those who have no idea what I am talking about, visit josefeliciano.com, and click to the National Anthem section. You can hear his highly controversial version whch got him banned from the airwaves and read what transpired.
He told me to this day there is still backlash against him by some people who call him unpatriotic.
I think Jose can be the Mets version of Sister Sledge to the %26#39;79 Bucs.
A quick verse of ';Light My Fire'; during the 7th inning stretch along with the Anthem? But the Tigers did win game 5 when Jose sang?
I saw Jose and Glen Campbell around that year (1968) performing a few songs for a taping by some old trains at a place called Travel Town in Griffith Park area of Los Angeles. I was in the fourth grade and rooting for Bob Gibson and the Cards in that great series. Remember getting my radio and earplug taken away in class :(
It%26#39;ll be tough for me to pick a team if it%26#39;s Mets vs Tigers (both amazin)

I was guessing than Burna was thinking about Shea or Detroit?
A sharp Glavine scattered 4 hits on 89 pitches in 7 shutout innings.
I worry about the Mets 4th starter with El Duque and Pedro down.
Another rain delay would be nice to get Glavine a game 4 start.
Thanks Voyagereuse... Done...
Love and Light...
Just Gotta Say: Go Tigers! :)
