Tickets for shows

Hi all, what would the best way be to purchase tickets for a show or two, on line before we go or can we get cheaper when we get there?? As on-line they are quite expensive or is that the norm??

THanks in advance for any input you may have .

A lot depends on when you will be visiting and what you want to see. For example, TKTS is not an option for the extremely popular shows like ';Jersey Boys'; and ';Wicked';. If you share your travel dates and show picks, you%26#39;ll get some helpful advice.

Thanks, I am going on the 24th of Oct for 5 nights, hoping ot see maybe The Producers and maybe Mama Mia, any ideas??

To be honest in a tizzy as have Comfort Inn booked on 35th bbut was thinking of swapping location for comfort and booking a hotel outside of the city, as in New Jersey any imput would be greatfully appreciated on this topic also. One last question is there anywhere else for toys other than Times Square?

Sorry for all the questions!!

Each show sells through an exclusive ticket agent, typically telecharge or ticketron. You can buy full price tickets through those sites (find out which one on playbill.com). Before you do, see if any discounts apply. Broadwaybox.com and other sites publish discount codes that you use when ordering through the ticket agent. The TKTS booths sell same-day, cash (or travelers checks) only tickets, but you%26#39;re likely to wait on a long line with no guarantee of what shows will be available when you finally reach the ticket agent window. And, you won%26#39;t have a choice of seats. I rarely go to TKTS.

If you order, do it by phone so you can talk to a live person who can guide you to what seats you%26#39;re getting. And elect to have the tickets held at the box office. You just need to bring the same credit card you used to buy them.

RE: Staying in NJ. Search this forum for more info but basically transportation between most of new jersey and manahttan is difficult. If your NJ hotel is near a PATH station then the trip is not too hard, but time consuming, especially on the weekends. (the PATH is a separate subway system that goes to NJ - the fare is $1.50 each way. Trains run 24/7 but weekend and night time schedules are about once every 20 mins.) NYC taxi cabs are NOT required to take passengers to NJ except to the airport, and the fare is cost to ny border, 2X the cost from the border to your location, and round trip tolls including the $4.50 it costs to enter the city from NJ.

Between the two locations:

The main reason for staying in NJ is to save $$$,

The main reason for staying in Manhattan is convience of having a room to clean up and rest near what you are doing.

Thanks so much for the info, checked out the discounted online company and will go with them for purchasing tickets....Just have to decide on which show now!!!
