Quick Subway Question?

Hello,

I will be staying at Hotel 31 on 120 E 31 ST and am wondering whether it is is easy to get the subway to ALIFE RIVINGTON CLUB on 158 Rivington Street ?

Thanks for your help

Quick Subway Question?

Walk to 33rd Street and Park Ave and take the #6 train downtown to Bleecker Street. This station is connected to the Broadway-Lafayette station.

At the Broadway-Lafayette station, transfer to the F train going downtown, towards Lower East Side and Brooklyn.

Take the F 2 stops to Delancey Street. Then you have to walk about a block north and a blcok east to get to your destination.

Check out HopStop for subway and bus directions. It%26#39;s great!

Quick Subway Question?

Thanks for your advice and help

I live across the street from Hotel 31, so let me know if you have questions about the neighborhood. The hotel is between Park and Madison Avenues. There are two subway stations close to you on Park Avenue, one at 33rd Street and the other at 28th. Both are on the green No. 6 line.

You can take the #6 down to Bleecker like the last post said, but it%26#39;s a bit of a walk to Rivington Street from there. If there are more than one in your group I would just take a taxi. The ride shouldn%26#39;t be more than 6 or 7 dollars. Enjoy your trip!

Do keep in mind, though, that these directions cannot be used in reverse -- you can transfer from the #6 to the F only if you are going DOWNTOWN on the #6; there is no corresponding transfer at Broadway-Lafayette between the F and the UPTOWN #6 platforms at Bleecker Street.

This is about the only ';one way'; transfer in the entire subway system; almost always you are able to get back to your starting point by reversing the directions, but this one station is the big exception to the rule.

thanks citybeagle, could i ask what the area is like at night as i am going to 2 knicks games can i walk back from the garden or should i take a taxi, it is only me on the trip.

Also do you have any tips on places for breakfast and dinner in the area that a suitable for 1

thanks

Hi Mero. First, I was thinking of a different hotel. Your hotel is on the other side of Park Avenue, between Park Avenue and Lexington, but those are still the closest subway stations.

The neighborhood is safe at night and you can walk around with no worries. West of Madison Avenue is not as nice because it%26#39;s not a residential area, but you will be safe walking and there should be plenty of other people around. To get to the Garden you will walk straight down 31st Street; it%26#39;s on the block between 7th and 8th Avenues. It%26#39;s probably a 10-15 minute walk.

For breakfast you can find plenty of delis on Park Avenue or Third Avenue, where you can get bagels, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, etc. For lunch or dinner, you will find plenty of restaurants on Park, Lexington, and Third and along the streets between them. There are several good Indian restaurants on Lexington.

A few suggestions: Penelope%26#39;s (on Lexington at 30th Street) has good salads, sandwiches, and a good chicken pot pie. Cash only. Rice (27th Street between Lexington and 3rd) offers rice dishes with different toppings and you can eat there for under $15. The thai beef salad is very good. Blue Smoke (27th between Lexington and Park) has good barbecue and burgers. Houston%26#39;s (Park Avenue at 27th) is a chain but has good food, great burgers. Mishima (Lexington Avenue) has good sushi for the neighborhood. For Mexican food you could try La Cocina at 30th and 3rd Avenue; they have a take-out next door. Bella Napoli (Madison at 31st) has good pizza and pasta for under $10, dine in or take-away.

citybeagle - so glad you chimed in! There have been a few recent posts about finding Irish bars, or going to bars and restaurants in the East 30s, and sounds like you%26#39;d be a good person to answer!
