we are in new york from the uk over new years. would like to visit the bars on new years eve but have been told that we will need tickets, is this true? we just want to visit the irish bars nothing posh and dont want to be restricted to just the one place. Also, is everything open on new years day, restaurants etc.
new year bar hopping?
Your best bet would be Avenue A in the East Village. It%26#39;s a wildly popular drinking strip. (from Houston Street to 14th). The side streets in this area are also loaded with bars. Many of them will not have a cover charge, and the street itself will be just as lively as inisde the bars. It%26#39;s a great economical option for NYE.
Pretty much everything is business as usual on New Years Day.
