Doubletree Lexington or Hilton Avenue of the Americas?

If you had to choose between these two hotels for 2 nights, and your purpose of visiting NYC was for a vacation getaway, which would you choose and why? My BF and I are planning a couple of days in the city this winter and have to choose between these two hotels (using points). We would plan to do the usual touristy sightseeing stuff. I%26#39;m leaning toward the Hilton, but wanted to hear others%26#39; opinions. Which is the nicer of the two hotels? Which has a better location? Which has better dining options nearby? Price is not an issue for us.)

I am an honors member and have stayed at both.

Doubletree metropolitan is noisy, smallish rooms but if you have status with honors will upgrade you to a high floor.Convenient to transport and a short walk to Grand Central.

Hilton 6th ave.I like this location a bit more. Not too far from Times Square and Rockefeller centre or Central Park. Not as close to transport. Not very likely to get a good upgrade even if Hilton Diamond though.

If using points can you get an award at the Doubletree Times square as it is an all suite hotel and obviously a good position for all the touristy things.I have found it the quietest rooms of the Hiltons.

The hilton Times square also gets good reviews but I have not stayed there.

We also have the Hilton points and I have stayed at Hilton New York (6th Ave.), Doubletree Suites, and Hilton Times Square. I agree that the Hilton you mentioned has a great location for a quick trip. Our room was nice, but for some reason the walls were very thin and we could hear the people in the next room talking and they were loud every night we were there! The Hilton Times Square had newly redecorated rooms and the rooms were quieter. I preferrred that one. The Doubletree Suites Times Square does have the quietest rooms, but they use up double the points since you are getting a suite, and I doubt the 2 of you need a suite.
