From Manhattan to Giants Stadium

I%26#39;ll be staying in the city and going to some concerts at MSG in late September. Now there is a concert I%26#39;d like to go to at Giant%26#39;s Stadium as well. I know the 41st St Port Authority Bus will get you there and back within a somewhat narrow time frame. Assuming I want to get there earlier and stay later, I%26#39;m sure a cab would take me out there, but are there cab stands around the stadium or the Meadowland%26#39;s Complex to get me back. Or would walking to the nearest hotel/bar/grill and getting one from there be the best option?

A NY yellow taxi is not obliged to go to NJ except for Newark Airport. (The driver still at his discretion take you, but not necessarily at the metered rate).

You are better off arranging for a private car to take you there and back. Popular and reputable ones are:

carmel http://carmellimo.com

crown http://1800mycrown.com

tel aviv http://telavivlimo.com

The Meadowlands is not very close to much, so I don%26#39;t think you want to be walking anywhere from there.

Why do you want to get there earlier, stay later? Tail gating in the parking lot? Other than that, there really is nothing at all to compel you to get there early or stay later. You may want to check the PA web site to see when the first/last bus are. Or hire a car like was already mentioned. That will be expensive.

I would really reconsider and just take the bus from the PA, easiest and cheap.

Glad I asked about the cabs!

Yeah, car hire would be too expensive, but maybe it wouldn%26#39;t be a bad idea to take a phone number as a last resort if I miss the bus out of there that departs 30 minutes after show%26#39;s end--it could take THAT long to get back down there from a nosebleed seat ; )

The tailgate party I would go to starts early and resumes after the show. I%26#39;ll skip the after-party and run to catch the bus...or fly into Newark and stay there in NJ overnight and then come into Manhattan. Thanks for your help!

This information is so helpful to me. I am so glad I checked this forum. We will be in NY for the Sept 10 NYG vs Colts game and I needed transportation, tailgating and any any other local tips and advice would be greatly appreciated!!

We are staying in Times Square for 4 nights. Thank you in advance.

If you would be tailgating I would presume it would be with friends who have a vehicle? Would they be able to take you to a bus stop with more regular service at that later time? Unless things have been built up since I was there last with bars, etc. within walking distance, the Meadowlands is in the middle of, well, the Meadowlands (a whole lot of nothing).

There is a Sheraton not too far away. Seriously, there isn%26#39;t much there. I honestly don%26#39;t know how long after a game they stop running the buses. I would make sure to be on one though, as being stranded in the Meadowlands doesn%26#39;t sound fun.

ORTIZPTY5, they%26#39;re all right, there isn%26#39;t much around there, believe me, I%26#39;ve spent hours trying to figure this thing just right. There is a community of hotels, restaurants and shops in the vicinity of the stadium (just a mile away to a few miles away depending on the source!), but since you%26#39;re already (wisely) staying in the city, I think your best bet is to ';tailgate'; in a bar and grill in Manhattan and take the bus over from the Port Authority an hour or so before game time, then catch the return bus back in and celebrate (or drown your sorrows, lol) in the city. This is unless you are meeting some people putting on a tailgate as I am, (last count 187 of my closest friends ; ) and want to grab an earlier bus over.

Is the 41st Port Authority Bus within walking distance from Times Square? Is there a thread to find out there daily schedules?

The Port Authority is one block (long block) over. Honestly, on game days you can just walk in ask the information person and follow the crowds

To add, on game days they increase the bus traffic from the PA to the Meadowlands (East Rutherford, NJ) by a multiple of probably 100. I%26#39;ve gone a couple of times and it%26#39;s easy and well run.
