We got asked several times in Starbucks and Jamba Juice for a name for the order and every time I gave my name I had to spell it for the assistant and then when they shouted it to say my order was ready they always shouted Louis.....so I was just wondering if Louise wasn%26#39;t a popular name in America.
A question about forenames in America.....
I get that happening to me here. My name is spelt the American way, Jaime so people call me Joanne, Julie, Janine etc, everything but Jaime, as they don%26#39;t believe me its spelt that way.
I always get %26#39;but thats a boys name%26#39; too.... grrrrr....was the bionic woman a boy!! I think not LOL
rant over for today :o)

Lou, I found this...

:o)
You%26#39;ve reminded me of the first time that happened to me in Starbucks in Trump Tower. They asked me for my name and rather than give my full, difficult to spell Irish name I said ';just Dee is fine';. A few minutes later, I heard ';tall, non-fat caramel macchiato for Justine';! :)
renowned fighter - sounds like me (esp on a Friday night after a few - take on anyone me - lol - not really!)
Louise was especially popular here from the turn of the 20th century through the 1920%26#39;s (it was my own mother%26#39;s middle name). But, it hasn%26#39;t been among even the 1000(!) most popular names for baby girls in the States in recent years. E.g., less than 240 baby girls (don%26#39;t know exactly how few) born in the US last year were given the name Louise whereas more than 23,000 Emily%26#39;s were born last year.
My first name, Karen, wasn%26#39;t on 2005%26#39;s top 1000 list either :-)
ljg1006 - All I can say (as another Louise) is that we are clearly very special people!
I give them a different name every time I%26#39;m at Starbucks. I try and keep it simple.
I did think %26#39;now here%26#39;s my big opportunity to take on any name I want%26#39;......but then mind went blank and Louise came out each time - lol! I%26#39;ll remember that for next time and try and think of some corking names :)
every little breeze seems to whisper Louise,
birds in the trees seem to twitter Louise...

That%26#39;s really strange, I think. Certainly Louise isn%26#39;t a terribly popular name for baby girls these days in the US, but I would never have thought it to be an unknown name here! I guess I would have classified it with such names as Betty or Pearl - a bit old fashioned, but clearly names known by most.
