Ok, its the good old ';which hotel question';?

We are coming to NY in November for the first time for 4 days I have whittled it down to the following hotels based on TA reviews (left it a bit late!) and ovbiously max. I can afford (Highest cost first: San Carlos, Affina Dumont, Novotel, Belvedere). So with experience which is the best with regards to location of favourite sights, restaurants etc but also I guess like everyone I want a nice, clean hotel, as modern as poss and whilst in NY with a view of the city.!!!.......not wanting much huh?.

.....the Belvedere seems a good bet at $800 but not 100% some reviews are a bit unsure, I%26#39;m drawn to the Affina but not sure it its worth the extra $340...but then I keep telling myself when in NY.....

Help please?

Hotel Metro gets really good reviews I just missed out on it, stayed in The Salisbury in April was absolutely fab.

If I was you I wouldnt go by the reviews tend to think peoples expectations are too high. The Salisbury does a brilliant $3 continental breakfast as much as you can eat. I tried to go back to this one but again full so am now going to The Wellington....heard good things about this one from people who had stayed here in April so going to give it a whirl.

Please dont be put off by the reviews make you%26#39;re own mind up.

We also stayed at the Salisbury last year for 5 nights. It was perfect! From the breakfast, the friendly helpful staff, the location a few blocks from Times Square and Central Park, to the upgrade to a suite, we couldn%26#39;t recommend the Salisbury high enough.

Got a good deal through a travel agent as well which was a surprise.

I can recommend the Belevedere, which is centrally located and on a relatively quiet street. The bathroom was roomy, and there was plenty of space in the bedroom as well. It is very close to Restaurant Row, plus, there is a Mexican restaurant next door, and Pigalle, a French restaurant just down the street. I got breakfast items every day at a corner market/deli--very handy. Have a great trip!

All the hotels you mention (plus the Salisbury) will be clean and centrally located. The biggest ';if'; is modern and the view. I think the Novotel is the only one that%26#39;s really tall so you%26#39;re more likely to have a view, but there are some spectacular views from the Affinia Dumont.

On location, the Novotel and the Belvedere are closer to Times Square and the typical tourist areas. The other 2 are on the east side, but within a reasonable walk to most things.

I%26#39;d say based on what you want, the Novotel might be your best option as it%26#39;s modern looking, tall and near Times Square. The Belvedere is more traditional decor and has fridges and microwaves in the rooms though. The Salisbury has very large rooms and is nearer than any of these to Central Park, but furnishings are very traditional (not modern).
