3 More Days to Go!!

Hi all,

We will be arriving on Thursday night and staying until Sunday evening. Besides hearing that the weatherman is playing an awful joke on us (rain)...I am so excited, and just wanted to thank you all for the advice I have received on this forum. Looking forward to seeing and doing all the things you have suggested. Will post pictures and trip report when we get back! (If I didn%26#39;t decide to up and leave PA for good and stay there!)

3 More Days to Go!!

Hi Vallonio! I will be there for the same days as you. The weather doesn%26#39;t really look that bad, with a chance of showers on Friday. But other than that it looks clear through Sunday when we leave. What are your plans so far? I%26#39;m going crazy still trying to figure it out.

3 More Days to Go!!

PDX,

Hi! This is my itinerary thus far:

Thursday 10/19:

Arrive Port Authority Bus Terminal around 9pm depending on what bus we got

Take cab to our hotel (Crowne Plaza Times Square), check in, drop off bags.

Peruse Times Square, grab a drink

Friday 10/20:

Have in studio tickets to GMA, leave hotel and walk to studio, be there at 6:15am...grab bagel on way. (If we get Regis tickets we are substituting that show for this one)

TOTR

Head north on 5th Avenue, check out St Pat%26#39;s Cathedral, window shop

Serendipity 3 for lunch (if we can%26#39;t get in, Burger Joint inside Le Parker Meridien)

Head north on 6th and enter Central Park.

Peruse Central Park, Belvedere Castle, Turtle Pond, Imagine Mosaic, Strawberry Fields, Dakota Building, etc.

Grab taxi back to hotel for showers

We need a dinner venue because we have A Chorus LIne tickets at 8pm.

Show at 8pm

Drinks after the show???

Saturday 10/21:

Downtown to the WTC site. Visit the memorials and the church.

Visit Century 21 for possible? bargains.

Grab a cab east to the seaport. Explore.

Bodies Exhibition

Walk north and explore Chinatown , check out Greenwich Village and Soho a bit.

Grab a cab back to Times Square and visit Madame Tusseaud%26#39;s

Back at hotel to shower

Dinner: We all like steaks and are not adventurous with food. Someone mentioned the Strip House?? Will make reservations before we leave depending on the suggestions. UPDATE: made rezzies at BLT Steak

Complain about our hubbies and kids (it IS a girls getaway after all).

Sunday 10/22:

Check out of hotel and stash bags in security

Head to Ellen%26#39;s Stardust Diner for breakfast (if we can get out of bed)

Walk around Times Square area...sister is hunting down some bead shops

Will most likely be looking for souvenirs at this point.

Bus at Port Authority is at 5pm. Need to be there at 4:30pm.

I am hoping that the rain goes away...really don%26#39;t want to be walking through rain all day. Other than that I am hoping for a fabulous time! I am taking my sister and her two adult daughters...so it%26#39;s my treat all the way! Are you guys doing anything special that you think I missed???

I hope both of you have a great time.

Judy - checked with the BAG office today, your visit is still pending, they will try to get you a greeter, but they say they have been swamped, so hopefully something will happen. If not, I am sure you will have a wonderful trip anyway.

Sounds like a great itinerary! Mine is still a work in progress. I%26#39;m thinking that since Friday might rain, we could use that as our museum day. The Met is free on Friday and MOMA is free from four to eight. So this is how it looks (so far).

Thursday arrive at hotel about 10am. Go to Central Park (a block away!) and go over to Grey%26#39;s for lunch and H%26amp;H Bagels to get bagels for room.

Walk from CP to where Jon Stewart tapes. Watch taping.

Eat dinner.. we are thinking Virgil%26#39;s, Daisy May%26#39;s, or Carmine%26#39;s.

Friday - Museums and explore the Village and Soho. Circle Line night cruise.

Saturday - hopefully BAG at 9am. Mary Poppins at 2pm. TOTR at sunset.

Sunday - check out early - subway to Brooklyn - pizza at Grimaldi%26#39;s and we are going to do the City Walks Brooklyn Heights walk.

Back to room to get bags and off to the airport.

I know that there are a million more things that I wanted to do, but ran out of time.

thanks for sharing with me vallonio. I hope you have a wonderful time!! I would love to go %26#39;with the girl%26#39;s%26#39; sometime. That sounds like fun!

Thanks NYCgirl! I have had my fingers crossed for weeks! Kind of makes it hard to work, though. I%26#39;m sure I will have a great time even if we don%26#39;t get a BAG. I appreciate you taking the time to check for me! I don%26#39;t think we could run out of things to do.

I%26#39;m also going to be in New York while you two are there! I%26#39;m arriving on Wednesday and leaving on Monday - I can%26#39;t wait! I don%26#39;t usually get excited about holidays, but I am about this one! We have booked a helicopter ride for Sunday, so I%26#39;m hoping the weather holds up!

Vallonio, your hotel is only 8 blocks from the Port Authority, and easily walkable unless you%26#39;ve got lots of luggage.

For dinner, PDXJudy had mentioned some restaurants and I would add that Virgil%26#39;s and Carmine%26#39;s are 2 of my choices for the theatre district. Depends on the type of food you are the mood for but Virgil%26#39;s barbecue menu is one of my favorite and Carmine%26#39;s Italian family style is also excellent.

Thanks Travel4three. Can you tell me how you order at Carmines? I know the portions are huge, so we will want to share. Do you just ask for a separate plate, or do they just assume that when you order and serve family style? I actually went on Hopstop and got subway directions to Carmines (GWB should be proud!).

We (5 ladies total) will be in NY from this Friday until Monday. We are all very excited. Two from the group have never been to NY so they are of course excited. But I don%26#39;t know who is more...those of us who have been there before and are looking forward to going back or those who have never been there!!
