Vege restaurants

More planning about trip although a long way off....

Heard the candle restaurant is good.... has anyone been\/

Can you recommend good vege eating?

Vege restaurants

Hi!

-Candle is excellent, but it can be pricey. They have a cafe that is less expensive but also great.

-Zen Palate is terrific. The location I usually go to is on Union Square but you%26#39;d have to check online for the others. I know one is opening somewhere near Wall Street so I would check the website before you actually get here, it may be open by then.

-Whole Foods Market has a cafe...the one on Union Square, which is the one I go to, has an upstairs eating area that also has a juice bar. There%26#39;s a bakery there with some vegan options, and the very large buffet area is great.

-Angelica Kitchen is also near Union Square; it%26#39;s entirely organic and vegan food.

-If you manage to be at Union Square or Brooklyn%26#39;s Grand Army plaza when the Greenmarkets are up (definitely worth a visit to either one), there is a stand called Body %26amp; Soul with terrific food. It%26#39;s small stuff like turnovers but they have baked goods too.

-Another thing is that most natural foods markets have buffet sections and packaged meals like sandwiches. It%26#39;s reliable but it won%26#39;t all win five stars from you.

-Spring Street Natural is really nice. It%26#39;s on Spring and Lafayette and if you%26#39;ll be checking out SoHo and the stores then I highly recommend a meal here.

-Red Bamboo and Vegetarian Paradise 2 are both on West 4. They%26#39;re good, but more appropriate if you like the mock meat deal.

-There%26#39;s a really cute place in Brooklyn, on Henry Street, called Siggy%26#39;s Good Food. It%26#39;s all organic and there are some good vegetarian and vegan options, but they do serve meat.

-Burritoville is a sort of fast food chain in Manhattan...the food is inexpensive but pretty good. Worth popping in for a quick lunch.

-Definitely check out some places in Chinatown.

-If you love sweet treats I highly recommend BabyCakes. It%26#39;s on the east side near the train (I%26#39;ve never been there by train so you%26#39;d have to go online or maybe someone else knows), and it%26#39;s entirely vegan, plus a lot of the stuff is soy free, nut free, gluten free, whatever. But it%26#39;s excellent. Not very cheap, but excellent. The girls who run the place are really nice.

I hope the above helps!! Enjoy your trip!!

Oh and another thing -- You may be familiar with Le Pain Quotidien, so I just thought I%26#39;d let you know we have a few of those here with solid options for vegetarians and vegans.
