this may sound a daft question but how many people does a taxi carry? There are four of us wanting to get a cab from JFK airport to Manhatten, will we be able to get in one taxi?

There are ';people carrier'; size taxis available. Go to the official rank and the dispatcher will get you on quickly if there are none in the queue. Ignore anyone who approaches you offering you a car, as these are unofficial.

You can seat 3 in the back and one in the front passenger (next to the driver). There are some SUV / Minivan taxis which are bigger.
