Newark is one of the 3 airports serving New York. However it is in a different state, but about as far away as JFK. (30 miles?). Cab from newark (EWR) is about $55+tp+rt tolls - about $70 total. Cab from JFK is $45+T+T - about $60.
Train to EWR - about $12 + transport to Penn Station,
Subway to JFK $7
