Left luggage in New York

Hi

Could anyone help me

We are arriving into Newark Airport n 26th October 2006 and staying with Friends in Long Island we intend to travel to Penn Station and then onto Central Islip

But could anyone tell us where we can leave our suitcases as we want to do a bit of sight seeing and shopping before we leave Manhattan

Left luggage in New York

My cousin recently took a train out of Penn Station to Boston. She was on the Acela Express (Amtrak), and they had a special waiting area where they keep the luggage for you, and you can wander around until time for your train. You didn%26#39;t mention which train you were taking from Penn Station, but if it is Amtrak, they do have luggage holding areas if you have a ticket.

Chissis, Central Islip is on Long Island. They are taking the LIRR.

Drumneen, unfortunately the facilities for checked luggage in NYC are few and far between. The only facility at Penn Station is for people with tickets for Amtrak -- and you are not taking Amtrak. Because of terrorist bombings in lockers in the 1970s, there just are not any lockers in rail and bus stations in NYC.

You might also want to know that the term ';left luggage'; is not generally used in the US, and many people would misunderstand it to mean ';luggage that had been left behind accidentally'; -- that is, ';lost and found';.

Here%26#39;s the solution...

Walk to a hotel, any hotel. Tell the bellman that you%26#39;re checking in later in the day and you%26#39;d like him to store your bag till then.

Since your room isn%26#39;t ready... %26lt;wink%26gt;

It works.
